Met Gala 2025: Bold, Stylish, and Triumphant
With outfit-inspired bags to match. Plus, an opportunity to shape SECONDSENSE.
Hi fashion lovers!
How are we all doing this week? Is everyone’s screen time slowly climbing down after binging Met Gala content? Well. We have just one more thing for you.
But first things first. We wanted to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for being here. Your early support is the reason SECONDSENSE is thriving, and we don’t take that for granted.
We’re working on making SECONDSENSE even bigger and better—and, if you have a few minutes, we’d love your help. It’s just a quick 5-minute survey, and your feedback really shapes what we do next.
If you have additional thoughts you’d like to share with us, we’d love to meet you. Grab a 15‑minute slot on our calendar, and let’s chat about how SECONDSENSE can serve you even better.
We’re building this together, and your feedback means the world. Thanks for being at the heart of it all.
And now, on to today’s scheduled programming. The Met Gala.
Fashion’s Biggest Night
This year’s Met Gala was sophisticated, bold, and triumphant.
Anchored around the exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the event celebrated dandyism and sartorial expression throughout the African diaspora. The red carpet was heavily menswear-inspired, and featured gorgeous custom suiting, hats, cuff links, and ties. Zendaya wowed in a custom Louis Vuitton zoot suit, designed by Pharrell, in an homage to Harlem Renaissance dressing. Rihanna revealed her third pregnancy in a sculptural, custom Marc Jacobs ensemble that balanced softness and edge, masculine and feminine. Colman Domingo paid tribute to André Leon Talley in a dramatic Valentino cape, while Diana Ross made a triumphant return in an 18-foot train by Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie.
While the event was sponsored by Louis Vuitton, and major houses like Chanel, Dior, and Valentino dressed dozens of guests, Washington Post fashion critic Rachel Tashjian says the night was won by independent Black designers like Wales Bonner, Sergio Hudson, and Fear of God. And in a night dedicated to celebrating Black style, that feels like the best, most perfectly fitting detail of them all.
Because we couldn’t resist, we had some fun picking out our favorite red carpet ensembles and picking a bag from SECONDSENSE inspired by the look. We hope you enjoy, too.
